Gather Round the Campfire for These Delicious Desserts

Gather Round the Campfire for These Delicious Desserts

Desserts so delicious you’ll think they came from the bakery

Move over, s’mores – there are some new desserts in town, and they’re taking the camping community by storm! OK, maybe that’s a stretch, but if your taste buds crave something more than s’mores, and you want to try something different, then you owe it to yourself to take some of these recipes with you on your next camping trip!

Campfire lattes

Some people would say this isn’t exactly a dessert, and those people would be wrong. There’s nothing more indulgent than settling down with a nice, creamy latte after a great day. Prop your feet up, sip your latte, and watch the sun set.

For this, you’ll need whole or 2% milk, a Mason jar, a pan, coffee syrup, and your favorite new way of making campfire coffee. Brew the coffee strong. Add the desired amount of syrup and the coffee to your cup. Warm the milk over the fire until it’s steaming, and then dump it into the Mason jar. Tighten the lid, and shake the jar to froth the milk. Shaking the milk will work similar to steaming it, like at a cafe – you’re adding air and helping to froth the milk. The jar will get hot, so you may want to wrap it in cloth or wear a glove. Just don’t let it slip out of your hands.

Once the milk is perfectly frothy, add it to the coffee slowly, and stir rapidly to blend. Since the coffee is strong, you’ll end up adding more of the frothed milk than coffee. Enjoy your evening latte!

Crispy apple deliciousness coming to a campfire near you

If you love apple crisp as much as we do – double the crisp, please – then you won’t want to miss this treat. Apart from the typical ingredients for apple crisp, you’ll need only aluminum foil for the cooking.

The great thing about this one is you can make individual servings so everyone can have their own packet of awesomeness. We love it a la mode, but if you don’t want to indulge in that much sugar and keeping the ice cream cold is a worry for you, then simply leave the ice cream behind.

When you’re craving something a little tart

If you’re craving something tart, then you’re craving a tart! And by tart, we mean actual tarts – those amazing pastry shells filled with all kinds of goodness and topped with cream. These tarts are simple to prepare if you bring the elements to the campsite already made. Simply roast it over the fire, and serve it naked or topped with whipped cream for a quick, indulgent dessert.

Dessert heaven in a waffle cone

When it comes to this dessert, the sky’s the limit. You can fill these cones with anything your heart desires. You can try chocolate in all its variations, any kind of berry, marshmallows, nuts, or spices. Seriously, go crazy with your imagination! Wrap the cone, add it to the coals, and wait just a few moments for a warm, tasty treat!

When you’re in a slump

This dessert takes a bit more prep, but you could probably buy premade biscuits and canned pie filling if you don’t feel like going through all the fuss. It’s basically a delicious cobbler, but when you make it in a cast-iron skillet over the campfire, it becomes something different. Whether you call it a slump, a grunt, or a cobbler, this dessert is a treasure for your camping trip.

Orange rolls with “appeal”

OK – so this one you’re literally going to cook in an orange peel. If you’re like the campers who made these orange rolls, you’ll save the oranges to eat later rather than throwing them away and attracting animals to the campsite. The recipe is simple and takes very little preparation, so it’s a win-win in our camping book!

Every camping trip is more relaxing when you pair a great dessert with amazing protection. We’re talking about tire and wheel protection. Sometimes boondocking is the way to go, but debris is hazardous to your tires. When you have tire and wheel protection from the RV Advisor, you won’t fear going off the beaten path!
