There is a young woman who came to this country from Portugal after marrying a serviceman. One little girl (now 5 years old) was born to them. After an abusive marriage, a divorce ensued.
Since the woman with a green card is an immigrant with a language barrier, finding employment is difficult. The worst part of this, is that the woman was raised in some orphanage in Portugal and has only completed less than a high school education.
She is presently working for a local church for $100 per week. Needless to say that money cannot support her at all for one month. The husband has child custody due to this situation, so child support is not given.
Recently, this young woman has become pregnant again (don’t ask!), and in lieu of abortion, she is choosing to keep the child. She, at present is being evicted from her apartment for non-payment. The only help she can receive is a one month stay at a local battered persons shelter because the father of this baby has repeatedly kicked her in the stomach so she would lose the child.
Various churches have supported her in the past, but she has literally exhausted all handouts with her repeated callings.
Ideally, if she were given a FREE trailer to live in, she could live on her $400 per month with food supplied from the church and her $400 per month for utilities. We will work on FREE land if she gets this trailer to live in with her soon to be born baby.
