I live in Long Beach, CA.
I have been struggling to not lose my home and everything I have ever worked for, struggling for several years, but there is no safety net for me or my family. I lost my job with the university unfairly, due to discrimination and dirty politics. I was not able to find another job in my field even though I am highly qualified. I finally started a cottage food business which allows me to work at home and sell my baked goods at the farmers markets to try to make ends meet.
I bake all day Saturday and Sunday early AM to sell at the largest farmers market in Long Beach on Sundays. I wash dishes all day Monday. I bake all day Wednesday and Thursday early AM to sell at a farmers market in Redondo Beach. I wash dishes all day Friday, then start all over. I have been working frantically to make money at the farmers markets before we are kicked out on the streets, because once we are out, we have no more income. If I lose my home, I lose my family’s livelihood!
Well, Caliber Home Loan’s did foreclose on us, selling our home to an investment company. Today is a Friday. We have to be out by Tuesday.
We have been trying so hard to make our home business work to support us, so that my daughter might have a chance for a decent future!
I have sold our car (now we only have a 1996 Ford F-150), cashed in my retirement and other assets, etc to keep this house so my daughter won’t end up on the streets. She is the future. She attended California Academy of Mathematics and Science, the top magnet school in the state, and just started college at Stanford on scholarship. She wants to be an environmental scientist to save our planet. So at least while classes are in session, she has a roof over her head and food to eat, but the only house she has ever known is gone.
We have no savings. We have to be out in 4 days. You need time and money to save anything of value from the house you have lived in for 18 years, furniture, books, keepsakes. Between now and then I have one more farmers market my husband wants me to bake for to make that last bit of money. You also need energy. My husband is 61 and can barely walk. I will be 57 in a week.
Will you please help us by providing us an RV to call home?
