Story by Norman

My wife, and I along with our 12yr old daughter live in a 38 ft 5th wheel that was badly damaged by Hurricane Michael. Fema gave us some money for personal property, but it didn’t even cover our clothes we lost. We are currently living in our church Sunday school room. Where we still after 2 months don’t have hot water. We are using small coil counter top burners to warm water and cook on. We rode out the storm with 9 people at the church, because none of us had the money to leave town. The storm came in so fast we only had 2 days to get our stuff tied down. October 8th was tied down stuff at work. 9th we stayed home tieing our yard down. Woke up to a monster storm that grew from a cat 2 to car 4/5 over night. We knew we were in for a ride. The media said stay put, where u are is where u need to remain thru the storm. We remember the local news guy break down in tears, saying folks, this storm is going to reshape our city, our lives are gonna change. They had to take him off air. The winds started up, the rain came in and we rode the storm that put us in the middle aged in 5hrs. I knew we were in trouble. Me being a retired police officer here I’ve seen several hurricanes come and go. Nothing like this one. My wife we out to sit in her car to get away from the inside noise of the rest of us. Me and her was texting back n foryh, as she was enjoying this beautiful storm start up. Next thing I know she text me saying something just hit the rear of her car she couldn’t see out her windows or mirrors. I requested her to come inside. As I peered out the door, looking toward the three vehicles here being the middle one. I was surprised that a tree had been blown over across all three vehicles. She was in a panic now learning it was a tree. She yelled come get me..So, I braved the winds and rain and ran to get her out of the car. I grabbed her things and her and we ran back for the church. Our 5th wheel sat on a lot we rented from the church. As I looked it was takes a beating. I luckily had two screw in tie downs that I screwed into the ground under the hitch. Crisis crossed 2 yellow 4inch Harbor freight wretch straps tieing the hitch to the ground. Amazingly, they held taken 200mile an HR guest of winds. The vents blew open flooding the camper, one of the Windows busted out in the main bed room. The inside roof caved in over the couch area. But the straps held it as it slid off its concrete block pads. The skinny legs dropping and sunk into the ground. Saving it from rolling or flipping. We closed the door of the church thank GOD. My parents live behind the church and we could hear a loud crash. We peeked out a small window and see a 8inch limb that weighed about 6 hundred
