My son is a hero. From the time he was in the 7th grade, he knew he wanted to serve in the USAF. He did it! This coming year, he will have served 6 years for our country in munitions. He and his wife are expecting twins and wish to move to our property in Washington.
Now I will tell you why he is my hero. As our oldest child, Jacob has always been a nurturer. My husband and I have a total of 4 sons. After the birth of my last son, things began to change. I have suffered from mental illness my entire life. My diagnosis is bi-polar disorder and anxiety. My illness peaked and my actions resulted in a whirlwind of changes. Divorce, moving, new job, and through all this Jacob was shielding his brothers. He was there for them when I wasn’t.
His support of his brothers and of me helped our family so much, that 5 years later my husband and I have remarried each other. Jacob and his wife ate expecting twins! This RV would be their first home. They hope to save and build a house soon.
Jacob is that guy who will always work hard to provide for his family. He is the person who voluntarily helps people with their hood up at the gas station. He always chooses his family over himself. He will take this prize and turn it into the springboard into his civilian life. Rewarding him will result in awarding many as he is the type of guy that will pay it forward.
