Camp with nature, search for diamonds, and paddle around soothing lakes in Arkansas

From mining for diamonds to spending the night in historic buildings, Arkansas has plenty for all to enjoy. Take advantage of unapologetic nature with plenty of water access for swimming or fishing, trails for hiking or sightseeing, and a plethora of picture-worthy sites. Arkansas will help you stay fit without it feeling like a workout.

Where should you start your Arkansas adventure? There are plenty of places to dig into in Arkansas, but here are a few we think are worth your time.

This rustic park has forests and history

If you’re looking to delve into history and see Arkansas in all its rustic glory, a visit to Crowley’s Ridge State Park should be at the top of your list. You can sail out onto the lake for fun or fishing in one of several types of boats they have available for rent.

If you’re looking for a change of sleeping scenery, cabin rentals are available for a peaceful rest after a day of hiking trails, learning about history, or taking advantage of the wonderful swimming. If it’s hunting you want to learn, check their calendar to see when their hunter’s education classes happen and enroll before you visit!

Volcanic diamonds are yours to find

Since 1972, more than thirty thousand diamonds have been found by visitors to Crater of Diamonds State Park. There are more than diamonds that people from all over the world find when they plan a trip to Crater of Diamonds. You could find all variety of gems and rocks to add to your collection. If you visit in the summer, you can enjoy their café and their swimming accommodations. After a day of looking for diamonds, stretch your legs a bit on one of their three trails, which includes a wildlife observation trail!

Sometimes all you want is a little relaxation on the water

If water fun is what you’re seeking, there’s no better place to find it than Lake Sylvia. In addition to all the fishing and swimming opportunities at Lake Sylvia, there are multiple hiking trails through the forest to take a luxurious stroll. Even physically disabled guests can enjoy the accessibility of these trails and take some time to commune with nature.

Get up close with rescue animals

If you love animals and enjoy seeing downtrodden animals flourishing after being rescued, then visit Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. As one of the largest big cat animal rescues in the world, it’s open for the public to stroll around and see these fierce cats in all their glory. The animals are there for life but are taken great care of. The variety of cats span breeds from all across the U.S., so you may be visiting Arkansas, but you can still see big ole kitties from Colorado, New York, and Tennessee.

Get your photography on

While Sam’s Throne Recreation Area’s claim to fame is all the glorious hiking trails they maintain, it also provides ample rest and sweeping vistas that will make the amateur photographer in you swoon. Take a breath and relax from your rigorous adventure, get your fitness on, and remember to bring your camera. This is a vacation getaway that will bring your body, mind, and spirit back into alignment with half the cost of a weekend yoga retreat.

Nature and human-made beauty standing side-by-side

Devil’s Den State Park is another place you can rent a cabin in or nestle your RV into one of their campsites. Take note, hookups aren’t available for RVs so this would be a true camping experience if you don’t have solar.

Devil’s Den was awarded the title of “State Park” in the 1930s, but its beauty was there long before the title. Natural materials make up the buildings and structures around the park, and renting a cabin means resting in a part of history. There are enough amenities to enthrall the entire family with lake access, hiking trails, and natural caverns just waiting to be explored!

There’s plenty of fun to be had in Arkansas, but what happens if you run into trouble along the way and your RV starts acting up? Don’t let the fun die because you’re worried about your rig. Get the answers you need to troubleshoot, identify, and possibly fix issues yourself! When you include virtual diagnostics in your membership, help is just a phone call or click away!
